Hello, and welcome to our new series on starting a business, we're glad you're here.
A couple of disclaimers:
We do not know everything, we do not do everything. This series is meant to be a starting point for those who might be wanting to start their own businesses, not necessarily a playbook to follow to the letter. We are a board game publisher incorporated as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) in Arkansas and the likelihood that our businesses would overlap is not high (though if it does -- or even if it doesn't -- we'd love to hear from you!). Your mileage may (read WILL) vary.
We have made mistakes, we will make more (see disclaimer 1). This series came about because while there is A LOT of information out there about starting a business and it is sometimes collected together, it generally focuses on some aspect first and foremost. Sometimes you can get lucky and discover everything you need in one place, and we hope this series can be one of those places for you. That being said, we didn't do everything right the first time. We skipped steps we didn't know existed. We fumbled through, but hopefully this series will help you not make the same mistakes.
Our opening phase of this series will cover what you need to know or think about before you get too far into the process. We don't know how far along you are or how much you already know, so we will try to be as in-depth as we can be while not overloading you with too much information. We'll begin next time with some questions you need to ask yourself before you start working on filling out all those forms.
